From 16 Foster Homes to Social Worker of the Year

Growing up in 16 foster homes, from the ages of 3 to 18, she endured abuse, neglect, and seasons of homelessness. Most people would have let that define them… but not Genevieve. She turned her pain into purpose.

Now, with over 25 years in foster care work, she is a foster/adoptive mom, a full-time foster care social worker, and the heart behind “Out of the Box with Genevieve”, a gift-box program created to give children from hard places something to look forward to. A reminder that hope is still theirs. Her goal is to advocate by being the voice for children in foster care.

Genevieve recently received the Social Worker of the Year award from the Foster Family Alliance of North Carolina.

“Genevieve is a beautiful example of what the choice to internally heal can do to heal humanity.”
